Terms of Service

Last updated: May 8, 2026

Plain summary

Rankary builds and hosts websites for local service businesses, generated from your Google Business Profile. By using the service you agree to use it in good faith, for a real business you operate or represent, and not for any of the categories we explicitly exclude. The service is provided as-is, and we limit our liability to what you have paid Rankary in the prior 12 months. Cancel any time. Disputes go to small claims court in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Who we are

Rankary is operated by Matt Edward as a sole proprietorship in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The service lives at rankary.com. Customer support and legal contact go to matt.b.edward@gmail.com.

What we provide

Rankary generates a multi-page website from a Google Business Profile URL, hosts it at a Rankary subdomain or (on Pro and above) a custom domain you provide, optimizes it for local search, and submits a sitemap to Google Search Console. Specifics for each plan are documented on the pricing page.

We make no guarantee about ranking position, traffic volume, lead-conversion rate, or revenue. Search engine algorithms are not in our control. We do our best to apply the patterns that demonstrably correlate with ranking, but the outcome is yours, not ours, to claim.

Eligible businesses

You may use Rankary for a real business you operate or represent. The business must have a real Google Business Profile. We do not generate sites for the following categories:

  • Cannabis, CBD, kratom, or DEA-regulated substances
  • Adult or explicit content
  • Firearms sales (informational sites are fine)
  • Gambling and sports-betting operators (informational sites are fine)
  • Cryptocurrency exchange or trading services
  • Multi-level marketing or pyramid-structure businesses
  • Pharmacies (informational sites are fine)
  • Dental practices (per a separate non-compete)

If we discover a generated site falls into one of the excluded categories we may take it offline and refund any unused subscription time.

Your responsibilities

  • Confirm the information on your generated site accurately represents your business before you publish. Rankary draws content from public sources but the final accuracy and tone are yours to verify.
  • Comply with the laws and licensing requirements of your jurisdiction. If your trade requires a license number on your site, add it via the editor; we do not automatically validate licensure.
  • Honor all promises made in lead-form submissions (response time, privacy commitments, the offer described in the form).
  • Hold Rankary harmless from your use of the site. The site represents your business, not ours.

What you own and what we own

Your content. The text, photos, lead data, and configuration of every site you generate belong to you. You can export them as JSON (always) or HTML (Pro and above) and take them anywhere.

Our software. The Rankary platform, generation engine, prompt library, design system, and our brand belong to Rankary. You may not reverse engineer, scrape, or republish the platform itself. You may discuss your experience with Rankary publicly.

Trust marks. We surface platform marks (Google, BBB, Yelp, Houzz, Angi, Nextdoor, HomeAdvisor, Thumbtack, Facebook) only when your trust badges are populated from review or website evidence. We do not grant rights to those marks; they belong to their respective owners.

Reviews and reviewer attribution

Our policy on reviewer attribution and review excerpts is documented in the Privacy Policy. Reviewers may request removal of a quote from a Rankary-generated site by emailing matt.b.edward@gmail.com.

Cancellation

You can cancel any time from your dashboard. Sites stay live during a 30-day grace period. Full retention and export terms are documented in the Cancellation Policy.

Service availability

We aim for 99.5 percent monthly uptime on Pro and above and best-effort uptime on Free. Planned maintenance is announced in advance via email. We are not liable for downtime caused by upstream providers (Vercel, Supabase, Anthropic, Google, DataForSEO, Stripe, Resend), domain registrar outages, DNS misconfiguration on your side, or events outside our reasonable control.

Disclaimer of warranties

Rankary is provided as is and as available. We do not warrant that the service will meet every requirement of every business, that generated content will be free of every error, or that the service will be uninterrupted. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rankary’s total liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you have paid Rankary in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Rankary is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility.

Changes to the service

We may add, remove, or change features at any time. If a material feature you depend on goes away we will email every active account at least 30 days before the change takes effect.

Changes to these terms

If we materially change these terms we will email every active account and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Smaller corrections are updated in place. Continued use of the service after notice constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The parties consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Calgary, Alberta for any dispute arising from these terms or the service. Small claims and consumer-protection rights in your home jurisdiction are not waived by this clause.
